Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has died at the age of 71. TMZ Sports reports that emergency crews were called to his Clearwater, Florida home Thursday morning following a cardiac arrest. Despite paramedics performing chest compressions and rushing him to a hospital, Hogan-born Terry Gene Bollea-was pronounced dead at 11:17 AM. Police say there are no signs of foul play.


Just weeks ago, his wife Sky Hogan denied rumors he was in a coma, insisting his heart was “strong” as he recovered from surgery. In May, Hogan underwent a neck procedure, sparking rumors he was in grave condition.

Hogan rose to fame in the 1980s, turning professional wrestling into mainstream entertainment. His 1984 victory over the Iron Sheik launched the era of “Hulkamania,” and his colorful personality made him a pop culture icon. In 1996, he reinvented himself as a villain with the creation of the New World Order (NWO), further boosting his legacy.

He starred in classic matches against Andre the Giant, The Rock, and Ultimate Warrior, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice-once in 2005, and again in 2020 with the NWO. Though briefly removed due to controversy over leaked racist comments, Hogan eventually returned to WWE’s good graces.

Outside the ring, Hogan had a successful acting career (Rocky III, Mr. Nanny) and starred in the reality show Hogan Knows Best. He recently launched Real American Freestyle, an amateur wrestling league set to debut in August.

WWE said in a statement: “Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. We extend our condolences to his family, friends, and fans.”
