‘NCIS’ Fans Have “Goosebumps” Over Mark Harmon’s Haunting Line From New Teaser

Mark Harmon is officially back in the NCIS universe—and fans are getting a first look at what’s coming next.

Back in June, fans were ecstatic to discover the man behind Leroy Jethro Gibbs is returning to the franchise for NCIS: Origins season 3. The spinoff series (which follows a young Gibbs, played by Austin Stowell, during his days at Camp Pendleton in the 1990s) has had people in suspense since then, wondering how Mark’s return will affect the season ahead of the October 6, 2026, premiere on CBS.

Well, it seems like viewers may have an answer, based on a new teaser dropped on Instagram on August 5. In it, Mark is sitting in front of a burning bonfire with a monologue playing in the back.

“No matter how hard you try, or how far you go, you can’t ever leave it all behind,” he says in the clip.

Shortly after this news broke online, it didn’t take long for fans to comment on the teaser.

“Here I go again…just got more goosebumps!…..I can’t emphasize this enough, but I wish October 6th could be this coming Tuesday…..Origins will make history,” one person wrote. “Omg I’m so excited I could cry 🥹🥹🥹🥹,” another wrote. “Screeeaaaminng!!! THE OG IS BACK! 🥹🫶,” a different follower shouted.

Now, it’s important to note that Mark has actually returned to the original NCIS after leaving the series back in 2021. He also previously appeared in a crossover episode for NCIS and NCIS: Origins in November 2025, giving fans hope that he’d later come back for a bigger moment in the show’s universe.

Considering what we just saw, we can’t wait to see Mark back on our TV screens this fall!
