Who doesn’t want a little more Anthony DiNozzo in their lives? That’s the thought process that will be keeping Michael Weatherly along for a season-long arc on NCIS, beginning with the Tuesday, October 6, premiere.
As the Season 24 details of what brings Tony to D.C. reveal, his security firm is thriving once again, having moved past the events of his and Cote de Pablo‘s Paramount+ spinoff Tony & Ziva. In fact, he’s there to open up a satellite office, and it’s while he’s doing that that he’ll reunite with his former team.
“While trying to drum up new clients for his upstart satellite office, an old contact of Tony’s picks up some chatter involving NCIS. Tony is, of course, intrigued and decides to pay his old friends a surprise visit,” executive producer Steven D. Binder tells TV Insider. “Unfortunately, the reunion quickly goes sideways, and Tony finds himself in the middle of a five-alarm fire.”

He continues, “At some point, that fire will be put out — in no small part thanks to Tony — and the powers that be at the Pentagon decide they need a little more Anthony DiNozzo in their world. Luckily, since Tony was planning on staying in D.C. to be closer to his daughter, he’s more than happy to oblige.”
When Tony & Ziva ended, the titular pair were back together and even had permission from their daughter, Tali (Isla Gie). So far, we haven’t heard anything about de Pablo appearing on NCIS. So, what does that mean for the couple?
“Loving each other was never an issue. The problem has always been, can they be together without killing each other? And that’s the question that still needs to be answered,” Binder notes. “In our universe, Tali is now a few hours away in boarding school, and Ziva is there with her. Whether or not her path will cross with our agents in D.C. is still an ongoing question — but rest assured, her presence will definitely be felt!”
