The NCIS franchise, including NCIS, NCIS: Sydney, and NCIS: Origins, currently airs on Tuesdays on CBS.

CBS announced a brand-new spinoff to the franchise: NCIS: New York, which will debut in the fall of 2026.

The new series will see LL Cool J return as Sam Hanna, along with Scott Caan in an undisclosed role.

OMG, NCIS fans. A major change is on the way—and you’re going to want to know about it.

Recently, CBS dropped a bombshell that even the most loyal fans of NCIS, NCIS: Sydney, and NCIS: Origins didn’t see coming. During the network’s annual CBS Fest on April 16, viewers were shocked to discover another NCIS spinoff series was in the works. Titled NCIS: New York, the show will premiere in the fall of 2026, and it will bring back NCIS: Los Angeles alum LL Cool J as Sam Hanna, along with Scott Caan as his currently unnamed sidekick.

“Start spreading the news…🗽🏙️,” the caption read alongside the video announcement on Instagram. “NCIS: New York is coming to CBS this fall. 👏.”

Shortly after the news broke, some of the actors from the original show chimed in.

“LFG L!!!” Wilmer Valderrama(who portrays Nick Torres) shouted in the comments. “New York, New York!!!” Diona Reasonover (who plays Kasie Hines) agreed.

Fans also had a lot of thoughts about the upcoming spinoff.

“Yes!! Love LL Cool J & Scott Caan! Looking forward 👌,” one person wrote. “Omg, you can always talk me into more NCIS in my life! And with Sam Hanna and Danny Williams!” another exclaimed. “I’m pumped about this duo!! Plus anything with LL Cool J, I’m in!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥 two of my fave actors from previous CBS shows! 😍,” a different follower added.

NCIS: New York will follow Sam Hanna as he moves from L.A. to New York to take on high-stakes missions for the NCIS, and LL Cool J is excited to explore a new side to Sam.

“You know, it’s a new evolution, because you get to see him in a new setting, right?” he shared with Deadline in a video posted on X. “So, context gives the meaning to stories. Context is everything, right? So, seeing him in a New York setting, the New York vibes, the New York streets, it’s gonna be interesting. And then on top of that … he’s a superhero. This is a guy who puts his life on the line for his partners, for his friends, for the people he loves, for his country. And I think that’s cool.”
